Need support looking for work? Qualify Jobs Victoria Mentors can help.

If you’ve been looking for work for a while or you’re facing challenges that make it harder to find a job, a Mentor can assist.

Jobs Victoria Mentors assist people to become work-ready, find a job that suits them, and support them in their new job during the first six months of employment.

Qualify Jobs Victoria Mentor services operate in the following local government areas.

  • Greater Shepparton City (located in the Goulburn region)
  • Latrobe City (located in the Gippsland region)

How can a Qualify Mentor support me to find work?

A Mentor will work with you to understand your work goals and aspirations and help you achieve them. A Mentor can:

  • support you to apply for jobs
  • assist you to develop your resume and prepare for job interviews
  • support you to become job ready
  • match you with jobs that interest you
  • help you enrol in training or obtain qualifications
  • assist you with personal needs, including transport to attend   interviews
  • provide support for six months once you have a job
  • connect you to other community services.

Who is eligible for Mentor services?

Jobs Victoria Mentors provide targeted support to people who face significant challenges finding employment, including:

  • people who are long term unemployed, or
  • people who are at significant risk of long-term unemployment.

You may be considered at significant risk of long-term unemployment if you identify with one or more of the following communities:

  • multicultural communities, especially refugees and asylum seekers
  • LGBTIQ+ communities who face significant barriers to employment
  • Aboriginal communities who experience high unemployment
  • Victorians who experience mental health issues
  • people in contact with the justice system
  • people with disability not supported in Commonwealth Disability Employment Services
  • young people up to 29 who are not in full-time education and face significant barrier to employment
  • young people leaving state care
  • social/public housing residents
  • people experiencing family violence
  • veterans and their families.

A mentor will be able to discuss your eligibility with you based on your individual circumstances.
