The purpose of this course is to support post-compulsory school age learners with permanent intellectual disabilities to develop the skills to explore work options and access pathways to further specific vocational education and training.

The
22302VIC Certificate I in Work Education enables students with a disability or with special
learning needs improve their employability and work readiness in a supported
environment.
The course
provides students with the skills to participate in vocational learning through
the further development of generic and employability skills as well as
interpersonal and self-management skills.
Certificate
I in Work Education. provides a focus on orientation to work options and a
pathway to further specific vocational education and training such as
pre-apprenticeship courses.
Learners
are likely to undertake the qualification with the view to improve their
employability and work readiness
The
22302VIC Certificate I in Work Education is delivered part-time in the classroom then moves into part-time workplace
participation over 52 weeks duration
Our
classroom program gives students the basis where the theory is delivered, and strategies for work are planned.
This learning is then applied in an employment situation. Learning occurs in an environment to allow
skills to be applied.
Work experience placements are organised by the
support team this includes the Employment Placement, Student Support and
Trainer teams.
When arranging each placement, the Employment Placement Coordinator ensures the work placement is appropriate to student’s employment goals, interests and skill levels, and the workplace complies with the WHS requirements. This does not guarantee paid employment on completion.
The Employment Placement Coordinator ensures the
student is fully aware of and capable of carrying out their duties as assigned,
this provides the student with the opportunity to gain a realistic
understanding of the requirements of the particular field of work.
The program
also includes between 2 and 6 vocational activities; students visit the
workplace across a range of industries. The vocational tasters are workplace
visits where students observe and where possible participate in the work
activities on site.
